Bernie Sanders Drops Out Of The 2020 Presidential Race!
Bernie Sanders has announced that he has dropped out of the 2020 Presidential Race! After a lot of speculation and pressure from the public, Bernie finally quits the Democratic Primaries. Let’s take a look at his announcement, and what the future holds.
Bernie drops the curtain on Twitter
Moments ago, Bernie tweeted that he’s making a special announcement on Twitter. People speculated that this might be the time Senator Sanders drops the curtain. And as expected, the announcement was a live video and said that Bernie Sanders is dropping out of the 2020 Presidential race.
In the video message, Bernie thanked his grass root supporters in these words:
I want to express to each of you my deep gratitude for helping to create an unprecedented grassroots political campaign, that has had a profound impact in changing our nation.
However, he did not consider his campaign as a defeat. He believes that he has spread a lot of awareness in the United States about several important issues. Despite dropping out of the race, Bernie Sanders looks positively towards the future:
Together we have transformed the American consciousness as to what kind of nation we can become and taking this country a major step forward in the never-ending struggle for economic justice, social justice, and racial justice.
If you want to check out his video message, here’s the link. This comes as a real blow for many Bernie supporters out there, but honestly, everyone had seen it coming.
The writing was on the wall for Bernie
At this point, it was only a matter of time until Bernie Sanders was going to announce dropping out. If we look at the delegate count of Bernie Sanders, he was trailing Joe Biden by 303 delegates. He himself said:
And that is that we are some 300 delegates behind Vice President Biden and the path toward victory is virtually impossible.
However, he will not take his name off of the ballot until the Democratic convention. This is because he wants to exert enough influence on the policy front for Joe Biden. Greater the delegates, more pressure will be on Joe Biden to announce Medicare-for-all and relieve college tuition. It seems like Bernie’s still fighting for the people, even if he isn’t the one in the White House to bring the change.
Even though Bernie Sanders has dropped out, his campaign and its effects will last for long. His progressive ideas have found their way into the hearts of young voters. And as we all know, they’re the future of the United States. Therefore, all that Bernie Sanders stood for, will not go in vain.
