We can finally put Wrestlemania 36 in the rear-view now. Although the event didn’t take place in front of thousands of fans in Tampa, the show still went on. One of the main matches on the card was Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler. Even though Lynch, the staple of Women’s Professional Wrestling defeated the 1/4th of four horsewomen, it looks like the rivalry isn’t over yet!
“The Queen of Spades” Fails to Dethrone “The Man”
Becky Lynch has been the Raw Women’s Champion for over a year now. During her reign, she has outwrestled the likes of Asuka, Sasha Banks, Natalya Neidhart and now Shayna Baszler.
The Queen of Spades made her Raw debut in February. She immediately established herself as a threat to Becky Lynch by laying her out (after biting her neck… ouch). The former MMA star then plowed through 5 other women in a brutal Elimination Chamber match to get a Raw Women’s Championship match against Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 36.
After a solid build-up, the two squared off at “The Showcase of Immortals”, where the Champion retained her Title after an impressive showing.
Shayna Baszler isn’t done with Becky Lynch yet?
Just because Baszler came up short at Wrestlemania doesn’t mean that she will stop pursuing the top prize in Women’s Professional Wrestling. Even Lynch indicated in the post-match interview that she is ready to fight Baszler again. She said (thanks to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription):
She thinks she has my number but she certainly doesn’t, but if she has a problem with that finish tonight, just tell her to not go missing. She knows where to find me, I’ll be holding down the fort every single week.
Shayna Baszler then took to Twitter to seemingly confirm the continuation of the rivalry.
I’ve seen this dark before. Shoulda killed me when you had the chance…. https://t.co/XMcGV9CANI
