Netflix’s grim crime drama Ozark is back with it’s season 2. After the success of season 1 from July last year, Netflix put on the season 2 on 31st August this year. Apparently, the super hit Netflix drama returned at its moody best.

The Plot of Ozark

Ozark is basically the story of a financial adviser Marty Byrde who drags his wife Wendy Byrde and two children Jonah and Charlotte all the way from Chicago. They relocate to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. He has to launder money to appease his Mexican drug lord. But the story complicates as their arrival is met with difficulties. The family soon becomes entangled with local criminals like the Snells and Langmores.

Season 2 kicks off right where season 1 left. Marty and his family are still in great trouble. They’re stuck in coalition with an ice cold lawyer as well as the local criminals. But even worse, Marty still has to figure out how to cover up for his boss’s murder.

As thrilling as season 1 was, season 2 is just another attempt into making things even messier. While season 1 of Ozark explored the street-level criminal corruption, season 2 is digging into uncovering corruption from the reputable places of power. Even when both seasons are equally thrilling, season 2 of Ozark on Netflix is even more dark in the moral compass. And this time, not just the dad but the entire family is thrust into the ugly glory.

Season 2 of Ozark has remained faithful to the story overall. The core elements of the show are kept fully intact. Season 2 does have some aspects that make it a bit better. This time, we can actually see women in the series shining in bigger and more complex roles. But if possible, season 2 of Ozark on Netflix is incredibly desolate and stressful. A lot of story has been packed into the ten episodes of the show. And the way it ends, it’s safe to assume that it will be back with season 3 on Netflix.

The Cast of Ozark on Netflix

The majority of the original cast of Ozark has returned for season 2 on Netflix. The only prominent new addition to the cast will be Janet McTeer who appears as the Chicago based attorney with links to the cartel. Jason Bateman will still be Marty Byrde- the financial adviser the trouble revolves around. His wife Wendy Byrde will be played by Laura Linney. Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner appear as Charlotte and Joan Byrde. Ruth Langmore is Julia Garner while Peter Mullen plays Jacob Snell. Jacob’s terrifying wife, Darlene Snell would be Lisa Emery.

It’s probably best to say that Netflix’s Ozark has returned at its moody best with a whole other fleet of problems that the star cast has to confront.
