Lady Gaga’s father Joe Germanotta shocked her multi-millionaire daughter (net worth $40 million) when he set up a GoFundMe account. This wasn’t the kind of surprise Bad Romance singer was looking for on her 34th birthday.
Why Did Lady Gaga’s father Sign up for a GoFundMe account?
Chromatica music album’s creator turned 34 this Saturday and must have received quite a few surprises on her big day. The one from her father, however, wasn’t something she would have ever wanted.
According to sources, Lady Gaga’s father Joe Germanotta set up a GoFundMe account in order to gather donations from fans for his restaurant Joanne Trattoria. When A Star is Born actress found out about it, she couldn’t believe it. A source close to the family told that Just Dance star had no clue.
Lady Gaga had no knowledge of it and the idea would have been shot down before he even finished bringing it up. The worst part is, it’s her birthday! Neither she nor [mom] Cynthia would ever let that happen. It was him acting on his own, unfortunately, a really bad impulse.
It comes as a surprise because Lady Gaga is a multi-millionaire with a net worth over $40 million. That’s what the source was implying too. Joe didn’t have to go to these lengths and rely on donations from fans aka Little Monsters to pay off Joanna Trattoria’s staff amid the Coronavirus crisis.
The online backlash from Gaga’s Little Monsters resulted in the removal of this account from the crowdfunding website. The crowdfunding website’s profile was asking for a donation of $50,000 from fans, in hopes of covering up the pays of the family restaurant’s management for two weeks.
It was an “embarrassing mistake”, the source said before adding that it was a rather “stupid act of impulse” from Joe’s end. Lady Gaga has not responded to the situation in person yet. Dankanator will update you, if and when that happens.
