Aquaman writer talks about upcoming sequel
DC Entertainment Universe continues to expand with Aquaman. Back in 2018, it earned $1.148 billion at the box office worldwide, according to a source. This made it the highest-grossing movie in DCEU. This movie received several praises for its’ writing, design and production. This was refreshing for the franchise because previously they have failed with critical appraisal.
After such a high box office turnover, fans have been expecting a sequel. And the sequel also comes with a spin-off. Although details about the two are very scarce and limited. But it appears during the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, one of the writers may have spilled some beans.
David Leslie also turns to Twitter
Aquaman’s co-writer, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick held conversations with the franchise’s fan over his Twitter account. He engaged the fans in a Q&A session. And fans asked him about the sequel and the spin-off. To which he confirmed that he was in talks with James Wan about Aquaman 2 despite being in lockdown because of coronavirus.
His words were:
“It’s going good! I’m texting with JW about the draft of the script right now — I think you’re gonna dig it!”
He also cleared with the movie fans that James and he are not gonna draw the movie plot pertaining to a single comic story. Rather they may focus on one distinct villain in the comic for some inspiration. The movie may be set between the original Aquaman and its sequel (although, he didn’t give out much information)
His tweet said:
“Hmm… Good question. We’re not taking any one particular comic book story and adapting it, but if you want to know the vibe we’re going for, pick up pretty much any Silver Age story featuring Black Manta. Theoretically, it takes place between 1 and 2. But some pieces of this is still being worked out.”
