Ryan Reynolds to Play the Lead in Netflix’s Dragon’s Lair!

Netflix’s live-adaptation game has been a hit and miss so far. While it couldn’t impress the audience with its version of “Death Note”, it garnered immense success with “The Witcher”. Now, the popular streaming service is planning to make a movie based on the 80’s game “Dragon’s Lair”. As if this news wasn’t exciting enough, Ryan Reynolds will be seen portraying Dirk the Daring in it.

What’s Dragon’s Lair?

Allow us to take you for a stroll down the memory lane! Dragon’s Lair released in 1983 with an aim to launch the visually appealing Laserdisc genre in the arcade department. The game is pretty fun and easy to complete.

As a player, you assume the role of Dirk the Daring, who has to avoid falling in a number of traps along the way. Your end-goal is to rescue the beautiful Princess Daphne from the villainous Singe’s lair.

Obviously, the game achieved mainstream success. It was adapted into an animated TV series in 1984. Also, GameSpy put it on the 7th place in its list of “Top 50 Arcade Games of All-Time” in 2001.

Ryan ReynoldsIt looks like Netflix year-plus struggle to acquire the rights to the game in question will bear fruit soon. Not only is it making a live-action Dragon’s Lair movie but it has also convinced Ryan Reynolds to be a part of it. The Hollywood Reporter broke this news recently.

The Deadpool star will also be serving as the film’s producer. We can say that it will have all the ingredients of an entertaining Ryan Reynolds movie. How? Because Dirk the Daring’s courageous yet quirky nature can only be perfected by Reynolds!

No details regarding when the project will go on the floors are out yet. Moreover, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, expect things to delay even further.
