It would not be wrong to say that no one else could have played Jean Milburn of Sex Education as perfectly as Gillian Anderson. During a Q/A session on her Instagram, she revealed her favorite character from the show.
Previously, she starred in The X-Files which is one of the most iconic TV shows
Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files revolves around special agents of FBI who try to solve paranormal cases. It would not be wrong to say that it was the best show of the 90s. After her portrayal of Dana Scully, Gillian Anderson gained immense popularity and gave her incredible opportunities. In 2013, Anderson once again played a police officer in The Fall where she is called to solve serial killings in Ireland. She is best known for playing characters that are comfortable with their sexuality and self-assured.
Initially, Gillian Anderson did not want anything to do with Sex Education
While she plays on the best characters on television, she was not very keen on it at first. When she received the script of the show, Anderson threw it in the dustbin. In an interview, she said:
“I read a teeny bit of the first episode and threw it in the bin. Initially I felt that it was too on the nose.”
However, her partner, Peter Morgan, creator, and writer of The Crown, convinced her to do it.
“Pete essentially took it out the bin and read it and loved it, and said, ‘You’re mad. This will be really good for you to do.’ I read it and I thought it was hilarious.”
Recently, she did an Instagram Q/A session and revealed her favorite character on the show
When a fan asked which is her favorite character on Sex Education, Anderson said:
Probably, Isaac because it’s very rare to see actors with disabilities to be portrayed on screen.
She credited Netflix for sanctioning it and the writer, Laurie Nunn for creating this complex character.
While we all know what Isaac (George Robinson) did at the end of season 2, it would be interesting to see how his character evolves in season 3.
