Robert Downey Jr. Welcomes Stephen Colbert into Avengers Family
Ever since COVID-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV 2) pandemic started, celebrities and entertainers have started performing on social media. When Stephen Colbert dressed up as Tony Stark for his online monologue, Robert Downey Jr. welcomed him into Avengers family with open arms.
While in quarantine, Stephen Colbert has started making online monologues for his Late Show
Previously, he hosted the satirical Comedy Central show, The Colbert Report. However, since 2015, he has been hosting The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The format of the show consists of a brief and cold open monologue by Colbert. After that, he presents a news satire with all the important news from around the world. That follows with guest interviews, comedy sketches, and musical performances. However, since the lock down, CBS has been showing re-runs of the show with an online monologue by Stephen Colbert.
For his latest monologue, Colbert imitated Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Tony Stark from Avengers
In his monologue video, he says that today’s agenda at hand is ‘Returning My Face Back to Normal’. He starts by telling the viewers that he will be shaving his beard. Initially, he had started to grow it during the lock down but he did not wish to look like an extra in Cormac Mccarthy’s The Road. In order to zhuzh it up, Colbert used his wife’s makeup. After using his wife’s eye liner, he started imitating Robert Downey Jr. After some time, he comes back in front of the camera with a black goatee similar to Downey’s. He then introduces himself as Tony Stark and asks J.A.R.V.I.S to ‘fire up the lab’.

After watching this video, Robert Downey Jr. welcomes him to the Avengers family.
Although Colbert’s video was not authorized by Marvel or Disney, Robert Downy Jr. seems to be happy about it. In a Twitter post, he re-shared Colbert’s monologue and wrote:
We welcome our newest Avenger with open arms. Well, open arms but 6 feet away…

Although the Avengers films have come to an end, is it possible that Colbert can bring back Tony Stark’s character on-screen? We think not, because there’s only one Tony Stark and that’s Robert Downey Jr.
