Simone Biles Is Back

Simone Biles undoubtedly remains one of the best gymnasts that the world has ever seen. The Olympic champion exited the sport after the 2016 Olympics. Biles missed last year’s championship to experience life outside the gym. But this year, she is back and somehow even better than before.

While playing Friday night, Simone Biles reminded the world that there was no chance of being first when she was around. She scored 60.1 points- the highest the world has seen for the past two years. Not just that, but Biles remained 3 points ahead of Morgan Hurd- the reigning world champion.

At the weekend, Simone Biles won all four individual event titles. And also, the women’s all-around by 6.55 points. To everyone’s utter shock, the gap between Biles and the second winner was larger than the gap between the second and the eleventh places. Even though there is still one round left, everyone knows it is pointless. Simone Biles will probably walk out of that one successfully with her 5th national title as well.

According to Simone Biles’ coach Laurent Landi, the gap does not matter to her. Apparently, Simone does not compete with anybody else. Rather, she is always in competition with herself and that is how she gets to push herself even more.

When Simone Biles entered the competition, people had doubts if she would ace these easily. The greatest gymnast of the world won every competition she entered from the 2013 national championships through Rio. She is also the first woman to win three consecutive all-around titles at the world championships. But after the Rio, Simone Biles took a break for 15 months. She wanted to experience everything that she had missed because of her training.

Even when all other gymnasts start slowly when they return from breaks, Simone Biles clearly has set records. She herself shared that at the Classics, she was getting used to of the competition again. But at the weekend game, she felt like that she had totally embraced it.

Simone Biles is back, and probably in her best form. Considering her age and her skill, Biles is nothing less than a legend.
