Contagion Medical Consultant Dr Ian Lipkin Talks About Coronavirus
“At Columbia we have projects that are focussed on using Plaquenile, Hydroxy Choloroquin and Chloroquin as well as Plasma Therapy and we’re hoping to get through those as rapidly as we can. I would just like to say on this show tonight that this has become very personal for me too. Because I COVID as of yesterday… and it is miserable.”
Dr. Lipkin, Contagion’s medical consultant revealed during a video interview. He later added that if it (coronavirus) can hit him, then it can hit anybody. He also clarified that the way he contracted the virus was not important. In fact, it is more important to contain its spread as the virus is now found all over the United States.
According to many virologists and medical experts, the best prevention is isolation and confinement. Dr. Lipkin suggested the same, calling it the best tool. He served as a medical consultant for Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 pandemic thriller Contagion. The movie centers around the spread of a pandemic which is brought back to the United States by a woman in Hong Kong. Her son died, but her husband (Matt Damon) is immune and survives. The disease soon spreads to people she had contact with, eventually becoming a pandemic.
At this time, there are more than 460,000 cases for the coronavirus, with over 20,000 deaths. Now we know that the virologist, and medical consultant to Contagion movie, is also one of the victims. This is a high time to stay indoors and keep everyone safe, guys!
