Thirty-six years after the release of Ghostbusters original, it is still one of the most loved films. Therefore, the makers of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ wanted to keep it close to the original story.
When Ghostbusters’ original film released in 1984, no one knew it will become one of the most iconic films
It all began when three scientists started investigating the paranormal. They lost their jobs because of it. However, they did not stop and created their own paranormal investigation and elimination service, Ghostbusters. After they capture their first ghost, their business takes off and so does the paranormal activity in New York. Directed by Ivan Reitman, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters originally had some of the best actors of their time. It includes Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Rick Moranis. After the success of the first film, Ghostbusters II came out in 1989 and the remake was made in 2016. However, a new film with a different cast, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, will be coming soon.
According to the makers of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, they are keeping the original source material
While the cast of ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ is new, it is said that the story of the film is staying true to the original one. One of the actors of ‘Ghostbusters: After’ life, Finn Wolfhard said that his parents are huge fans of the original film and he watched it when he was young. He said:
“Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis – all of those were big, big people in our house. So getting to be a part of that legacy now is very flattering. Older Ghostbusters fans will find it’s a really, really faithful approach to the series. While young people, if not everyone, will find that, first and foremost, Ghostbusters is about family and the relationships that these people have made.”
Furthermore, he explained that although the trailer of the film gives a serious vibe, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ is really funny.
Apart from Wolfhard, the cast includes Paul Rudd, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon and the original cast of the first Ghostbusters. Interestingly, Ghostbuster: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman, who is the son of Ivan Reitman, director of the original film. The film is set to release in July this year.
