Famous county singer, Dolly Parton, pays tribute to her long term friend and fellow country singer, Kenny Rogers. Kenny Rogers died on Friday, March 20, 2020, due to natural causes. He dies at the age of eighty-one.
Dolly and Rogers have been singing duets since 1983. Dolly released a heartfelt video sharing a profound memory of her close friend and missing him in the process. She called him “a wonderful man and a true friend.”
The duet shared a chartbuster “Islands in the Stream.” And along the following decades, the famous duet sang multiple hit country songs. Their last performance was in 2017 at Roger’s farewell concert.
Dolly Parton said in her emotional video:
“You never know how much you love somebody until they’re gone. I’ve had so many wonderful years and wonderful times with my friend Kenny, but above all the music and the success I loved him as a wonderful man and a true friend.”
Dolly talks about how she heard news of his passing.
Dolly Parton opened up the news to see updates about the coronavirus pandemic but she reveals that the news told her that her friend Kenny Rogers had died.
Moreover, Dolly shares that she knows Kenny is now in a better place and would probably be asking God to put some light on the break time of the world:
“I know that we all know that Kenny is in a better place than we are today. And I’m pretty sure he’s gonna be talking to God sometime today – if he ain’t already – and he’s gonna be asking him to spread some light on bunch of this darkness going on here. But I loved Kenny with all my heart, my heart’s broken, and a big ol’ chunk of it has gone with him today.”
