Avatar 2 Production Carries on Despite Coronavirus Delays
It looks like nothing can stop Avatar 2 production from bringing the sequel to life. The sequel producer Jon Landau has confirmed that all virtual production of the movie will continue despite the coronavirus pandemic. The virus outbreak has halted the entertainment and filming industry all across the globe. Movies and TV shows have either rescheduled their release dates or stopped the production of upcoming movies as the world continues to contain the spread of the virus. In a similar attempt, some movies have also announced the early release of their digital copies to entertain families at home.
Avatar 2 Production To Continue Unlike Others
There are many movie projects that have temporarily shut down in the past few weeks. Mission Impossible 7, Peaky Blinder Season 6, the release of Marvel’s Black Widow, and Daniel Craig‘s No Time To Die. However, Avatar 2 has an edge over these movies, which might make it possible for it to continue production.
Virtual production works very differently from the traditional style. Here, actors do not have to come into close contact with each other; technicians do the major work on computers to create magic. Producer Landau confirmed that while live-action has been suspended, it is business as usual for the visual effects department.
The producer said shared a message which Avatar’s Twitter account reshared with its fans. The producer revealed that they have suspended live-action production which was scheduled in New Zealand. However, they will continue to work on virtual production for Avatar 2 in Manhattan Beach. The producer assured everyone that they are doing their part to flatten the curve and also encourage others to do the same. You can check out the tweet below:
“We’re doing our part to flatten the curve and encourage you to try to do the same. We will continue to share production updates with you. Stay safe and well.”
Stay safe everyone, help people around you, and like Chet Hanks says, stop hoarding toilet papers!
