Although she has made a name for herself, Emma Roberts’ journey began when she hung out on the film sets of her aunt, Julia Roberts

It was there that she desired to be an actress. Initially, her mother was against this career choice but came around later. In 2001, she made her film debut in ‘Blow’, starring opposite Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. After that, Emma Roberts starred in the Nickelodeons TV show, ‘Unfabulous’. Since then, Roberts has appeared in multiple films and TV shows like ‘Wild Child’, ‘Nancy Drew’, ‘We’re the Millers’, ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’, ‘Scream Queens’, ‘American Horror Story’, and ‘Palo Alto’. Her fan following can be seen from her social media including Emma Roberts’ Instagram hailing more than 13 million followers.

In the time of social distancing, Emma Roberts’ Instagram becomes a virtual book club

In 2017, a book club was launched on Emma Roberts’ Instagram. This virtual book club, ‘Belletrist’ was launched by Roberts and her friend, Karah Preiss. While Emma Roberts’ Instagram features authors and books regularly, you can sign up for this book club and read your favorite books. While talking about ‘Belletrist’, Roberts said that she and Preiss are avid readers and had this idea for a long time. Furthermore, she said:

It’s just always been something that’s been in the back of our minds because we love to read, and everybody loves to read more than people think. I started posting books on my Instagram and one day I was like, We should really do this for real. So Belletrist came to exist. It went through many different names. We went through about ten, and all of them were taken for different reasons. Belletrist we came up with because it’s someone who writes love letters, and it’s an old, old word with many meanings. We just loved the sound of it—it was feminine, but at the same time, I’d never heard it before.

Since everyone is staying indoors, Emma Roberts’ Instagram live features her reading excerpts from her book club’s March book. While the video has been removed from Emma Roberts’ Instagram now, her fans and other readers joined in on the book reading.

Not only that, Belletrist is holding virtual book tours for new authors to showcase their work.
