Patrick Swayze was to cameo in Zombieland, not Bill Murray
Zombieland: Double Tap came out last year but struggled to make noise at the box office. However, Zombieland 2009 continues to be a promising thriller that shows some of the best cameos in recent film history. The 2009 Zombieland features Bill Murray. Though, recently the writers of the film have confirmed to their audiences that the role was not originally written for Bill Murray.
Writers reveal that the original cameo was for Patrick Swayze
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, writers of the movie have said that the cameo was originally written for the late Patrick Swayze. Sadly, Patrick fell sick before movie directors and producers could approach him for the role.
And later, writers made a decision to cast someone else for the role. Other actors like Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Bacon, The Rock, Mark Hamill, and Joe Pesci were all in the running for the role.
Writers Wernick and Reese wrote the version of the script with Patrick in it. And of course, this is a completely different version than what we have seen in the movie with Bill Murray. And since, most of us are stuck at home amid the recent COVID-19 breakout, both writers have become very active on their social media to share the version of the script originally written for Patrick Swayze.
“Since we’re all currently living in #zombieland, @rhettreese & I thought it’d be fun to take you behind the curtain, back to the early days. The role Bill Murray played started in the original draft as Patrick Swayze. Patrick tragically fell sick and we never had the opportunity to offer him the part. But we did WRITE IT.
Moreover, the writer also shares that they will be revealing more about the original script. There were many changes it seems because all the names were different:
@rhettreese and I are going to post a new scene every day, as written. A few things to note. Tallahassee was originally Albuquerque. Columbus, Flagstaff. And Little Rock was Stillwater. Hope you guys enjoy.
The fans of the movie will surely enjoy this!
