The F.R.I.E.N.D.S. special is the latest to fall victim to coronavirus pandemic. Fans were extremely excited, to say the least, when the reunion episode was announced last month. The six friends: Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe have been entertaining us for 16 years now. However, it seems fans will have to wait another year or so to see the beloved show come back.
FRIENDS reunion special filming delayed
The unscripted special was supposed to start filming from the next Monday, March 23 at the show’s iconic apartment at Warner Bros Studio. However, sources say its production has been delayed till May. It might even get postponed beyond that. Unfortunately, the special is one episode in a long list of shows and movies canceled over the coronavirus pandemic.
The special would have been only available on HBO Max, its latest streaming service. However, despite cancellations, HBO is going ahead with the service’s launch in May. It will be the sacred home of all the 10 seasons of FRIENDS. Apparently, WarnerMedia outbid Netflix with $400 million for the rights of the show. The special will feature stars Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. Moreover, they will be paid $2.5 to $3 million dollars each.
Reactions and hype over the reunion
Undoubtedly if there is one show that teenagers all around the world have seen, it’s FRIENDS. The reunion special was in the rumors for weeks. However, it was only confirmed last month. The entire cast posted the same picture captioned ‘It’s happening‘ on Instagram. And fans went batshit crazy.
Indeed, even celebrities could not hold back their excitement. Moreover, fans took to social media to express their happiness. Unfortunately, we will all have to wait just a little bit more to see FRIENDS return.
