Rita Ora’s How to be lonely Fits Perfectly for Quarantine Life
Recently, Rita Ora released her single, How to be Lonely. After listening to the song, it got us thinking how perfectly it fits with the on-going self-quarantine time.
Last year, Rita Ora promised her fans to release new music in 2020
Earlier this week, she released her first single of 2020, ‘How to be Lonely’. It follows her 2019 singles, ‘Only Want You’, ‘Carry On’, and ‘Ritual’. While she sang the song, the lyrics are written by Lewis Capaldi, making it their first-ever collaboration. While talking about the song, Capaldi said:
“Sometimes you write songs and you sing them and you go, ‘I’m f_king sh_te at this’. I said, ‘I don’t know, I’m not very good at singing this’. And they go, ‘How about you get someone who can sing it?’”
On the other hand, Ora said:
‘Basically what I love about this song, was that I heard it and it was like midway through I guess, you know, breaking up and I kind just was like, you know what “gosh I don’t know why we always put this thing on ourselves of like, oh no we can’t be by ourselves and it’s so hard to be alone”. So when I heard it, I thought “wow Lewis, you really touched a nerve”, especially for me, so I hope when people listen to it, it touches them too.’
Although How to be Lonely is about a breakup, it seems perfect for self-quarantine as well
While the song seems to be about getting over a breakup, it seems like an anthem for self-quarantine people. Although it is a precautionary measure to control the spread of virus, it has been a lifestyle for introverts from time immemorial. However, extroverts might have a hard time adjusting to it. But, fear not, Rita Ora’s ‘How to be Lonely’ can get you through this hard time and lonely nights. If you feel overwhelmed by staying indoors, just listen to the song and shed some tears to feel better. Rita Ora’s sweet voice might also help you in getting some sleep. However, the key is to not panic and remember that this too shall pass.
