With each passing day, fear of the new coronavirus grows, impacting global economies and businesses. Similarly, Hollywood and the entertainment industry are affected as well. Several production companies have already delayed the release of their movies. And countries have put a ban on cinemas and gathering places. Disney has already pushed away from the release date of the live-action movie Mulan and even closed their Disney World theme parks. Now, NBC has also announced shutting down of Universal Studios Hollywood and the Orlando Resort.

Universal Studios Shut Down Due To Coronavirus

Beginning this Saturday, the Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort will be closed for the public. For now, the shut down will remain till March 28. The Orlando Resort will begin its shut down from Sunday, March 15. The new virus has taken thousands of lives, and no vaccine in sight either. Although the parks have announced their reopening date as well, they will be monitoring the situation at all times. This implies that the shut down can extend as well, as the victim count in the U.S continues to grow. According to the statement from the representatives of Florida park:

“We anticipate remaining closed through the end of March but will continue to evaluate the situation”.

The move by Universal Studios has come after looking at Disney who closed both of their theme parks in Orange County to contain the spread of COVID-19. The new coronavirus has already hunted down Tom Hanks and his wife, along with the Canadian Prime Minister’s wife.

With more than 127,000 cases globally, the new coronavirus has hampered the global market, slowing the global economy. However, in the midst of all this, China seems to have contained the spread within its boundaries. Astonishingly, while the virus originated from the country, the latest figures show that its new victim count has fallen to only 22. Reports circulating on the internet also hint that the temporary hospitals that the Chinese built within days are also shutting down.

As the Chinese continue to battle the coronavirus from whence it originated, can the rest of the world do the same to curb the growing public fear?
