Ellen DeGeneres cancels studio audience due to coronavirus
The Ellen DeGeneres Show is not the first one to cancel their live studio audience due to concerns over coronavirus outbreak.
They suspended audience attendance as the virus is increasing across people. And this will not affect the shows’ production.
A spokesperson for Telepictures shared in an official statement:
“With the rapidly changing nature of the COVID-19 outbreak, and out of concern for our audience attending The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Telepictures will suspend audience attendance during tapings effective Monday, March 16
This temporary measure will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and will not impact the production schedule of Ellen.
This decisions’ implementation for Ellen DeGeneres show is from Monday, as they had recorded this weeks’ shows already.
Other shows also took the same decision
Other daytime talk shows have also decided the same and are recording without live audiences. This includes The View, Live with Kelly & Ryan and Tamron Hall.
But not all of them have taken this step as some are simply monitoring the situation for now. Such as Warner Bros. studio in Burbank where they are filming with a live audience but keeping a check on people.
The studio said:
We are asking all guests to confirm that neither they nor any member of their household have traveled within the past three weeks to or through a location that has been deemed ‘Level 3’ by the CDC (currently China, Italy, Iran and South Korea)
These new and temporary precautionary measures have been put in place out of an abundance of caution and out of concern for the health and safety of our guests and staff.”
We hope that the coronavirus outbreak can finally get in control but the situation seems to keep getting worse for now. Till then, everyone must take these precautions as safety measures come first at this time.
