Last year in July, NBC ordered its biggest guns Tina Fey and Robert Carlock to write and produce a sitcom. We call them the biggest guns because they made 30 Rock for NBC which won numerous Emmy’s for the network. They have so much confidence in their talent that they ordered a straight to series order of 13 episodes.
Tina Fey is on fire
The talented woman who is an actress, writer, producer has been working non-stop on amazing stuff. She and Robert are creating an animated comedy series on Netflix. They have previously worked on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as well. They are just dropping one after another bomb-like creations. It’s no surprise that NBC has so much faith in them.
Back in 2019, the network tried to star Alec Baldwin for the lead, making the series a spin-off of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s 30 Rock. But Alec declined. Hence, the network resorted to choose Ted Danson for the role. However, he declined to move away from Los Angeles for the role. So the production was moved to L.A. Ted Danson was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in NBC’s The Good Place.
Ted Danson will play a businessman who runs for the Mayorship of L.A. and wins. Following that, he has to juggle gaining respect of his employees, connecting with a teenage daughter and fixing the city’s Coyote problem.
The mayor’s rival of sorts will be played by Holly Hunter, the Oscar winner. She is L.A.’s councilwoman and thinks that the new Mayor is not cut for the role. She doesn’t hide her disapproval either.
Bobby Moynihan, who is a cast member of Saturday Night Live, will join the cast as Jayden. Also, Mike Cabellon from Orange is the New Black will also star in the series. Another face that we’ll be seeing in the sitcom is Vella Lovell. We can’t wait for Tina Fey’s work. Can you?
