Zoë Kravitz shares intense details about her Catwoman role
A few days ago, we were getting a glimpse into Robert Pattinson as the new Dark Knight and his Batmobile. It has been said that Batman is only as good as its’ villains. It’s clear that director Matt Reeves’ is leaving no stone unturned. Not only will The Penguin and The Riddler make an appearance, played by Colin Farrell and Paul Dano respectively – Catwoman will be back in action, but we don’t yet know how much of an antagonist the character will be.
Zoë Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie. She has been talking to Variety chatting about how she approached the role. Although Kravitz has played several leading roles before, she admits playing Catwoman was still daunting.
Preparations before playing ‘Catwoman’
In an interview with Questlove Supreme podcast, Kravitz was asked how exhausting the preparation for Catwoman was. To that she replied with:
“It’s pretty intense. We just started shooting a couple of weeks ago, but before that, I was in London for two months, just getting in shape, training, learning fights.”
The following question was: “can you fight now?” to which she replied:
“I can fight now.”
As expected, such a role demands a lot of prior preparations. The comic book character is portrayed as a vibrant, athletic persona who has impressive fighting skills. And so, it puts up a lot of pressure on someone playing the part. In addition, when Anne Hathaway played the part for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises, she also put in a lot of training and exercise before coming on the screen. Anne took up an exercise regime which included dance and a great deal of stunt training. Looks like, Zoë Kravitz is also following in her foot steps to play Catwoman.
