Rachel Dratch Thanks Senator Amy Klobuchar
On Monday, Sen. Amy Klobuchar declared she is suspending her presidential campaign. In addition, she will endorse Joe Biden at a rally later on a Monday evening.
The Democrat withdrew from the race shortly after contender, Pete Buttigieg. The thirty-eight-year-old, former mayor of South Bend, Indiana dropped his presidential bid on Sunday. And a day before Sunday, billionaire, Tom Steyer, dropped out of the presidential race after he finished behind Joe Biden in South Carolina.
Ratchel Dratch portrays Amy Klobuchar on SNL
Rachel Dratch recently portrayed as the Minnesota senator during multiple guest appearances on Saturday Night Live. She tweeted at Klobuchar after her announcement saying:
“Thanks @amyklobuchar for being such a good sport throughout the SNL campaign season. I admire the heck out of you, and I think you would have made a great president.”
In addition to no longer being in the race for the Democratic primary, Klobuchar and Buttigieg will also, in all likelihood, be less frequent comedy targets on SNL.
Also, when Dractch recently played Klobuchar, she made a humorous parody of the candidates’ responses to the spread of coronavirus. The parody hit hard with the senators’ rivalry with Pete Buttigieg.
“Yeah, the whole moderate-from-the-midwest schtick is mine, so stay out of my center lane, b**ch,”
Dratch exclaiming to Colin Jost, both playing their respective portrayals at the democratic debate on SNL.
Klobuchar Admires Ratchel Dratch’s Efforts
Senator Amy Klobuchar has also been following Drach’s portrayal of her. In December, Sen. tweeted Dratch after an episode commending her for her efforts. Dratch responded tweeting:
“A good sense of humor is essential for any candidate, in my book! Thanks @amyklobuchar for being a good sport! Happy holidays!”
