Taylor Swift Throws Major Shade At Kimye With ‘The Man’

Taylor Swift is an international pop sensation who has been killing it in the music industry ever since she entered it. She has had six hit studio albums and just released her seventh named Lover.

Her new release is called ‘The Man’ and is the fourth song from the album, Lover. The music video for the single was released on 27th February and boy, did it bring some Easter Eggs for us.

Taylor had teased about these easter eggs in a tweet before. But that still did not prepare us for the shade she threw in the music video.

The Man is a feminist anthem featuring a d****** CEO who yells at his employees, man-spreads, cheers his friends on when they drink shots off a semi-naked woman and still manages to snag the title of World’s Greatest Dad.

Taylor Swift Throws Shade At Kimye

Before the music video was even released, Taylor teased an image featuring 19 hands in a white curved hallway that looked eerily similar to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s minimalist Calabasas home. Taylor has always been the queen of throwing shade and has always included a lot of easter eggs in her videos. So her throwing shade at them isn’t too surprising.

Spot the difference.

Kim and Kanye’s home:

And we weren’t the only ones. The fans noticed this too.

Fans speculate the 19 hands in the video are also a nod to Taylor Swift’s age when Kanye had interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV VMA Awards in 2009, starting the decade long feud between the two artists.

In another scene, Taylor Swift’s character, The Man, wakes up next to a naked woman in bed who could easily pass for Kim Kardashian’s doppelganger. Fans speculate this is a nod to Kanye West’s song Famous which had included a nude wax figure of Taylor Swift in bed with him without her consent. Three years later, she liked a tweet that called it “revenge porn.”

At one point, Taylor sings that if she were a man people “wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve.” This seems like a direct reply to Kanye’s infamous line in Famous, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”

About Taylor Swift’s Feud With Scooter Braun

Kim and Kanye aren’t the only ones who were a target of shade in Taylor’s new music video.

At the 13th Street Subway Station, Taylor took a jab at Scooter Braun as well. He had purchased the rights to all her old music from Big Machine Label this year. And that’s why the names of Taylor’s past albums were written in graffiti on the wall with the word “Karma” spray-painted and a sign that read, “Missing: If found return to Taylor Swift.” But that’s not all. Another sign said, “No scooters allowed.” Ouch.

The phrase “Owned By Taylor Swift” also appears on the screen when the credits roll not-so-subtly hinting at Scooter and not being able to own her own music.

What do you think? Are all these easter eggs or are we just speculating? Watch the new music video and then decide for yourselves.
