John Mulaney is an American stand-up comedian and is famous for writing in SNL (Saturday Night Live). His work includes The Top Part, New in Town, The Comeback Kid, Mulaney and Kid Gorgeous. Also, he is a voice actor and he has showcased his talents in animated shows such as Big Mouth and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Apart from being a comedian, he is also an actor, writer, and producer. He auditioned for SNL in 2008 and worked as a writer for six seasons. On December 24, 2019, his show debuted on Netflix which is called “John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch”. Obviously, he was the writer along with Marika Sawyer and the inspiration came from Sesame Street.
John Mulaney back on SNL
John Mulaney hosted the 14th episode of the 45th season of the show SNL. This is his third time in a row to host the show. Previously he appeared in 2018 and 2019. He is amongst the very few writers of the show who had the chance to host the show, without being the cast members. Other writers who had the chance of hosting before him are Conan O’Brien, Louis C.K., and Larry David. The episode aired on Sunday, February 29, 2020.
With Jake Gyllenhaal
The episode also featured performances from John Mulaney’s friends from his recent Netflix gig. The sketch “Airport Sushi” has a musical performance featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, David Byrne, and Pete Davidson among other cast members. Basically, they sing about the horrors that take place in the United State’s worst airport, LaGuardia. Jake Gyllenhaal does a funny passenger in pajamas who is pro-security and can’t wait to be thoroughly checked. Other sketches include “Coronavirus Cold Open”, “Sound of Music: Rolf and Liesl“, “Uncle Meme”, “Kyle’s Transformation”, “The Admiral”, and “Jackie Robinson”.
