Riz Ahmed’s The Long Goodbye Coming March 6th
After appearing in several successful films and TV shows, Riz Ahmed is all set to release his solo album. The album, ‘The Long Goodbye’, is coming out on March 6th.
Not only is he an incredible musician and rapper, but Riz Ahmed has also proved to be an outstanding actor as well
In 2006, he appeared in the part drama, part documentary, ‘Road to Guantanamo’. After that, there was no looking back for him. He did small cameos in several films and TV shows. However, with the release of ‘Four Lions’, ‘Trishna’, and ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, Riz Ahmed got recognition from filmmakers and audience. When he starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Nightcrawler’, Ahmed became an A-list star. But it was ‘The Night Of’ which really put him in the spotlight. He won many awards for his performance including a nomination for Golden Globes.
Not only that, but he also starred in the Star Wars film, ‘Rogue One’ and later co-starred with Tom Hardy in ‘Venom’.
In the music circle, he is best known as Riz MC
In his mid-teens, Riz Ahmed started taking part in freestyle rap battles and became a part of a band when he studied at Oxford University. When he released his track, ‘Post 9/11 Blues’, Ahmed got critical acclaim from music lovers. However, his song was banned for being political. His debut album, ‘Microscope’, was released in 2011. In 2014, Riz Ahmed and New York-based rapper, Heems, formed a hip hop band, Swet Shop Boys. Together, they released their album, ‘Cashmere’. His most recent album, ‘Englistan’, was released in 2016.

When talking about his album, Riz Ahmed said:
“The record is a breakup album – but with your country. So many of us feel like we’re being dumped by the place we call home, a home that we built. This album takes you on the journey of this breakup; through the stages of denial, anger, acceptance, and finally self-love to counter the hate.”
‘The Long Goodbye’ will come out on 6th March. It will be unveiled at the Manchester International Festival. The album will cover issues like Brexit, closing of British borders and right-wing nationalism. Along with the album, a short film of the same name will be released.
Not only is he a tremendous actor and musician, but Riz Ahmed is also an activist. He is involved in raising funds for Syrian refugees. His latest film, ‘Mogul Mowgli’, is in theaters these days.
