Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara Join America’s Got Talent After Union Event
The show must go on and this is what America’s Got Talent is doing right now for its season 15. After the departure of Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough in alleged workplace racism, this season looked a bit shaky due to the vacant chairs at the judges’ panel. However, now we understand that the NBC flagship show has found replacements, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara. Klum worked as a judge previously and only took off a year ago, meanwhile Modern Family’s Vergara is a new addition.
Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara as America’s Got Talent Judges
The decision to call Klum and Vergara came after Union and Hough exited the television talent show. They claimed that while all looks good and charming on the television screens and the stage, the backstage is where real darkness resides. Union was subject to “toxic culture” and “racially insensitive jokes”. At one point, someone even told her that her hairstyles were “too black”. NBC, on the other hand, have tried to remain calm in this situation, claiming that they will “put new practices in place”.
Here is what president NBC Entertainment Howie Meredith Ahr said:
“Sofia [Vergara]’s infectious energy and sharp with will blend perfectly with returning favourites Heidi [Klum], Simon [Cowell], Howie [Mandel], and Terry [Crews]. As both a respected actress and successful entrepreneur, she embodies the American dream that is synonymous with AGT’s transformative stage.”
The NBC as management is excited to work with Vergara and bring back Klum, it seems. The new season will mark as the 15th as the show completes another milestone. “[We] look forward to a lot of fun as these dynamic, accomplished women join Simon, Howie and Crews to inspire contestants in a fun-filled and unpredictable series.” President entertainment programming Trish Kinane remarked.
While Klum served with the show between 2013 and 2018, Vergara is a four-time Emmy nominee. Her ABC’s Modern Family will complete its 11 seasons this spring.
