Bob Chapek As Disney CEO – What Do We Know About Him?
In what seems to be a surprise decision hitting the news, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that he will be stepping down from the office. Bob Chapek will take over after him. The surprise announcement came on Wednesday, adding that Chapek will be taking over “effective immediately”. But, who is this guy? Have we ever heard about him? And what will the future of Disney look like under his leadership?
For One, Bob Chapek Is A Disney Fan
We will put it straight for all of you and just tell that he just loves Disney. The guy used to go on a trip to Disney World every year when he was growing up.

He Held Senior Positions in Disney
The new Disney CEO Bob Chapek was selected after proving his experience in senior roles across some Disney divisions. In different times, he has held presidencies of distribution of Disney studio, company’s home entertainment business, and also of consumer products. In 2015, he became chairman of parks and resorts and later shifted to the chairman of parks, experiences and products in 2018.
The CEO Worked Hard and Improved Company’s Theme Parks
Chapek was there when the company the largest investment and expansion of its theme parks business in its history. In fact, his profile says that he was leading it. His recent achievement is opening a Shanghai Disney Resort and doubling the size of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. For the Star Wars fans, he introduced an advanced Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Bob Chapek Is A Microbiologist!
Chapek graduated from Indiana University Bloomington to become a microbiologist. However, he turned his career around by choosing to study Masters in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He then joined HJ Heinz to work for their brand management before joining Disney.
Perhaps it is safe to say that the future looks bright under the reigns of such a talent now that Bob Iger has left the building.
