Kobe Bryant’s family, supporters, and fans are gathered at Staples Center, Los Angeles today. They all came together to celebrate the life of Kobe and his daughter Gianna. It must have been a very hard and emotional moment for Vanessa Bryant. However, she bravely took the stage to share her eulogy. She did not just lose the love of her life but also lost her precious Gigi in the same helicopter crash that took her husband’s life. Vanessa Bryant is a strong woman.
Heartbreaking Eulogy | Gianna Bryant
Vanessa Bryant started off by paying tribute to her daughter, her baby girl, Gianna. The crowd applauded with support when the moment became too overwhelming for Vanessa and she had to control her tears.
Gianna Bryant is an amazingly sweet and gentle soul. She was always thoughtful. She always kissed me goodnight and kissed me goodmorning.
Talking about her daughters, Bianka (3-years-old) and Capri (7-months-old), Vanessa shared how she used to get absolutely tired by staying up with her youngest daughters. And she would think that Gianna left for school without saying goodbye. She would then message Gianna to ask her “no kiss?”. To which, Gianna would reply with “Mama! I kissed you. But you were asleep. I didn’t wanna wake.”
Gianna knew how important her morning and evening kisses are for her mother, Vanessa. So she remembered to kiss her mum every day.
She was daddy’s girl. But I know she loved her mama.
Vanessa also shared how lovely Gianna was as a daughter and as a person. She loved to put smiles on everyone’s face. She also loved baking. In fact, Gigi also baked a cake for Kobe Bryant’s birthday last August. Vanessa says the cake was so perfectly decorated, it looked like a professional job. Gigi also loved baking chocolate chip cookies and watching cooking shows with her mama. While, with her daddy, she’d watch Survivor and NBA games.
Gigi loved watching Disney movies with her sisters. Even though she was very competitive just like Kobe Bryant, Vanessa says Gianna had a sweet grace about her. Gianna also maintained great grades while being an amazing athlete.
Gianna made us all proud, and she still does.
Vanessa’s youngest daughter Capri reminds her of Gigi because she has the same smile.
Vanessa Bryant Pays Tribute To Kobe Bryant
After paying tribute to her daughter Gigi, Vanessa shared a sweet introduction of Kobe Bryant.
Fierce comeptitor on the basketball court, the greatest of all time, a writer, an oscar winner, and the black mamba. But to me he was Kobe-Kobe, my booboo, my bae boo, my papi chulo.
Throughout the introductory words, Vanessa had a proud smile on her face and everyone loved it.
I was his BB, principessa, his reina, his queen mama, mamba.
For Vanessa, Kobe Bryant was not a celebrity or a basketball player. He was, in fact, her sweet husband and an incredible father of their children.
He was mine, he was my everything.
Vanessa Bryant also shared that she and Kobe had been together since she was 17 and a half years old.
I was his first girlfriend, his first love, his wife, his best friend, his confidant and his protector.
Kobe Bryant loved Vanessa more than she could ever express. She said she could not put it into words.
I was fire, he was ice, and vice versa at times. We balanced each other out.
Vanessa Bryant also confessed that Kobe was the romantic one in their relationship. And she would look forward to Valentine’s day and their anniversaries every year. He was so considerate with his gifts, that Vanessa would always wait to be surprised and mesmerized by him.
He gave to me, the actual notebook, and the blue dress Rachel McAdams wore in the notebook movie.
They wanted to grow old together. Two weeks before the crash, Kobe texted Vanessa and told her he wanted to spend some alone time with her. Because Vanessa was his closest friend as well. But they never got a chance to do it. Kobe also wanted to renew their vows.
He had magic arms. He’d put Capri to sleep in only a few minutes.
Kobe Bryant also liked movie marathons with Natalia-17, their eldest daughter. He also wanted Bianka and Capri to play basketball when they grow up so that he could spend more time with them, just like Gigi.
Now they donlt have their daddy and sister to teach them. And that’s truly a loss, I do not understand. But I’m so thankful Kobe heard Coco say Dada. He isn’t going to be here to walk our girls down the aisle.
Vanessa Bryant wants her daughters to remember how great and wonderful their father was.
Babe, you take care of Gigi. I got Nani, Bibi and Coco. We’re still the best team. We love and miss you boo-boo and Gigi. May you both rest in peace and have fun in heaven. Until we meet again one day.
