Things might have slowed down for Lucasfilm and the Star Wars universe, but rumours have already started to rise up. We have a few shows coming out this year like The Mandalorian and recently launched Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. However, it is safe to say that none of these shows is moving ahead in the timeline, ahead of The Rise of Skywalker. With no news on how things are going to carry on, even a slight hint or rumour can get us flying. This time we think that a new Star Wars movie is in plans and Lucasfilm might have already started to work on it.

A New Star Wars Movie In Talks?

This news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, telling that the production has spoken with J D Dillard and writer Matt Owens to develop features for the Disney franchise. Dillard previously worked on Sleight and Sweetheart meanwhile Owens was involved with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Luke Cage. Whatever the two are going to work on, if they are going to work on, is still a mystery and we might not find out anytime soon. In fact, there is no information even about the project being one for theatres or streaming platform.

Apparently Disney and Lucasfilm are trying to boost Disney+, even the Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the future of this franchise lies in the streaming platforms. As the Star Wars movies go in hiatus, we will get television shows and series to watch for now. In fact, the next theatrical film has an estimated release date for Dec 2022 and other planned entries are set to Dec 2024, and Dec 2026.

With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker we only have the final season of The Clone Wars to finally end the Skywalker Saga. Now, Disney+ is only targeting spin-off series which mostly lie behind TROS movie.

Only time will tell if this going to come out as truth. May the Force be with us all!
