The 22-year-old Camila Cabello is an American-Cuban singer, songwriter, and actress. Before her solo career, she was a member of the girl band Fifth Harmony. Also, she is a mental health advocate and often speaks about her difficulties dealing with it. On February 20, 2020, she shared a post on her Instagram. Clearly, she is way better than where she was a few years back.
Camila Cabello’s struggle with mental illness
Previously, we saw reports about the famous singer’s mental illness history. She wasn’t always the confident queen we have seen getting award after award for her songs. Instead in her younger years, she couldn’t even sing in front of her parents. Many people find it hard to believe after seeing her record-breaking songs. She was diagnosed with OCD, which is a disease in which a person obsesses over something so much so that they act compulsively to cope with it. Explaining the intricacies of the disease, she says when she felt anxious, getting the thought of failing was impossible to get out of her head. At times, she would ask the same question from her mom multiple times.
However, a time came when she decided that she will grow out of it and would get the treatment needed. In her post, she says that she held her younger scared self and told her that this is what she wanted out of life and she’d get it no matter what. Recently, she discovered the importance of meditation in getting over OCD. Rather, the affirmations that she repeats in her head and writes down on a piece of paper, are definitely something that will unburden a person. Being thankful for all that you have been blessed with – friends, family, health – will get you through the day. So, Camila Cabello urges you to repeat the affirmations, and better yet write them down to get the positivity you need in your life.
