Rosario Dawson Comes Out As Queer 2 Years After THAT Instagram Post
It is always a big deal when a celebrity opens up about their sexuality. There have been instances in the past and after some previous LGBTQ movements and gatherings, more and more have started to open up about their true selves. The move encourages others who are also looking for opportunities to announce their sexual inclinations. Rosario Dawson is the latest celebrity to open up about being a queer. What is interesting to note here is that she hinted about this two years ago on her Instagram. Then again, she might also be telling us during her time in Jane The Virgin.
Rosario Dawson Confirms She Is Queer
The actor-singer, Rosario Dawson is currently in a relationship with Senator Cory Booker, who was running for 2020 Presidential elections. Although she did not particularly cite her sexuality, she did confirm suspicions about it in a two-years-old Instagram post. She confirmed this in an interview with Bustle. Although the interview was much about her latest tv series Briarpatch, the talk about her being a queer is great news indeed. On account of discussing LGBTQ rights in pride month, the interviewer asked her about her following post:

🙏🏽👏🏽✊🏽💥🔥💋🤗♥️💙🧡💚💛💜❤️ I will not be ashamed. this is just who I am. and who I was meant to be. No mistakes. so right here I stand. I’m out on my own two feet. no you will not tear me down. no my heart will not be bound. sing it loud. sing it loud. I’m proud. I’m proud. #Repost @oranicuhh ・・・ happy pride month! sending love to my fellow lgbtq+ homies. keep being strong in the face of adversity. loud & proud. 🌈🤟🏾 here’s a lil throwbyke to last year. ✨
Apparently, when Dawson posted this video, people started talking that she has “come out”. In the reply to the interviewer, Dawson took a different approach here:
“People kept saying that I [came out], I didn’t do that. I mean, it’s not inaccurate, but I never did come out come out. I mean, I guess I am now. I’ve never had a relationship in that space, so it’s never felt like an authentic calling to me.”
We might have missed one other hint about her sexuality from one of her previous career roles. Starring as Jane Ramos in Jane The Virgin, have we forgotten how she was a lesbian? Her role as a love interest for Yael Grobglas’ Petra Solano can also be a hint to how normal she felt in doing such roles.
Unfortunately, as much as we want to discuss more of this, the interview provides little details, and Dawson herself avoided the topic altogether. Perhaps we have to wait a couple of years more to get the full story of Rosario Dawson coming out as queer. She and Booker have faced some serious media scrutiny, just like all other celebrity couples in the past. The actor told that she has gone to great lengths to develop a private life for her 17-year-old daughter Isabella, whom she adopted in 2014.
