While Ben Schwartz has lent his voice for the protagonist, Sonic, Jim Carrey plays the evil genius, Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Meanwhile, James Marsden plays a police officer, Tom Wachowski. During a segment featuring animals, Jim Carrey introduced himself as Ace Ventura

In the segment, Kelly Clarkson invites a wildlife educator, Coyote Peterson who brought with him some exotic animals. When Peterson put a bearded dragon lizard on Jim Carrey’s shoulder, he introduced himself as the legendary Ace Venture, the pet detective. It was a beautiful nod to his breakthrough role.

Ace Ventura was released in 1994 and became a hit overnight

Not only was this a groundbreaking character for Jim Carrey, but it was also loved by the audiences instantly. This was one of the performances which brought Carrey into the spotlight and made way for other incredible roles. After that, he gave us films like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

While Ace Ventura did get a sequel, it would be interesting to see Carrey as the beloved pet detective in this era again. Hopefully, the actor will think about making a comeback and bring this fan-favorite to the cinema screens.
