This Valentine’s day, Jojo Rabbit director, Taika Waititi celebrated with someone very special. In a social media post, he wished himself happy returns of the day. It is a reminder for us all to love ourselves.
Newly Oscar winner, Taika Waititi had an exceptional year
Loosely based on the novel Caging Skies by Christine Leunens, his film, Jojo Rabbit won the Oscar for best-adapted screenplay. In the film, Taika Waititi plays the dictator, Hitler, who is the protagonist’s imaginary friend. Originally, the Hitler character was not in the book. However, Taika Waititi wanted to add Taika-ism to the story.
Apart from this film, Taika Waititi has many interesting films under his name
Previously, he directed the infamous superhero film, Thor: Ragnarok. Other than that, Waititi has given us films like Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What We Do in the Shadows (it is turned into a TV show), and Eagle vs Shark. While Taika Waititi films are mostly comedy, they have an emotional feel to it. His films are said to celebrate awkwardness and innocence.
Just like his quirky films, Waititi came up with a brilliant idea to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s day
In a tweet, he wished a very happy valentine’s day to the love of his life. He said:
Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life. From day 1 you’ve always been there for me and I guarantee we’ll shuffle off this mortal coil together. Such a pleasure waking up to you every morning for 44 years. I love you, me.
