Metal Band Slipknot Wins The Best Band In The World Award for 2020
Metal band Slipknot might need to clear some shelf space for their latest award this year. Certainly not the only one this year either, Corey Taylor and the gang has won the title of Best Band in the World at this year’s NME Awards 2020. The group was not there to accept the award, however, they were expecting this win and even made an acceptance video to play upon announcement.
“Thank You For Recognizing It” – Slipknot
Corey Tylor and all the band members of Slipknot were standing to make the acceptance video. Interestingly, the award trophy is a hand with the middle finger out extended. Perhaps nothing is better than showing other bands this awards, reminding them of their place. A place which is well below Slipknot of course. Wearing their typical masks, they all looked super cool and super grim, thanking their fans for making it possible. Watch the speech below:
“We appreciate it. Best band in the world. Way to catch up. We knew that 20 years ago.”
Perhaps Tylor is right, Slipknot band did win the GRAMMYs and has an overwhelming amount of support from its fans. The metalheads snatched the award from a category which included Haim and Tame Impala as well as BTS and Brockhampton.
Slipknot band had a huge year in 2019 with the release of their new album We Are Not Your Kind and the Knotfest Roadshow tour. The group will upscale their music tour and proceed to Europe this year in 2020 now. Loudwire also reports that the Slipknot band will also travel to Japan and North America.
Furthermore, the NME Awards was also a treat for Lana Del Rey and the young Billie Eilish. Norman Fuc**** Rockwell won the award for Best Album, while Bad Guy won for Best Song. It is becoming quite impossible to see a music awards show without Taylor Swift walking out without a win. Even here, Swift won for Best Solo Act, a selection amongst the likes of Eilish, Del Rey, Lizzo, Slowthai, and Charli XCX.
