The fifth season might not be our last deal with the Devil

Season 5 of Lucifer may not be it’s last after all. Netflix is considering extending the show, after previously announcing that the fifth season would be the last. According to a report, Netflix is in talks with Warner Bros to extend the show for yet another season. Fans are going to love this extra screentime of Tom Ellis’ quirky portrayal of the Devil.

Final Season of Lucifer

In June 2019, Netflix announced that it would be renewing Lucifer for a fifth (and final) season. The release date is still unknown, but we do know that it is a 16-episode series. Surprisingly, the studio also stated that the season would be released in two parts. Fans were certainly sad to see that Netflix could only carry on the show for 2 seasons. That is, until now.

Netflix renews Lucifer for Season 6

Owing to the immense success of Lucifer, the studio has rightfully wanted to renew it. When S4 premiered on Netflix, it remained one of the most-watched TV shows on the service for months. And apparently, even Netflix couldn’t ignore that. Both Warner Bros and Netflix have not commented on the speculation. Most probably, any confirmation for Season 6 would come after the premiere of S5.

Netflix to the rescue after cancellation:

However, this is not the first time Netflix has come to the rescue of the Devil’s fans. After Fox suddenly pulled the plug on the show after three seasons, Lucifans became furious. The trending “#SaveLucifer” campaign certainly came under the streaming giant’s radar, and it decided to “rescue” the show for another season. Tom Ellis said that:

Since doing Lucifer, I’ve done press in various parts of the world, and I’m fully aware that this show is much more popular than what it had seemed to be on Fox… So I’m not surprised by people being angry. I just wasn’t ready for this tsunami of love that came with it.

The 10-episode run on Netflix was extremely well-received. Fans were also treated with a Lucifer cameo in CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event. This may come as a surprise to some, but Lucifer is originally based off a DC/Vertigo comic series. Season 5 is going to premiere sometime in Spring 2020 and will also feature a musical episode. The season is bound to be a hit, with actor Dennis Haysbert cast to play “God.” Fans are finally going to see Lucifer deal with his daddy issues.Tom Ellis as Lucifer
