Coldplay | Cry, Cry, Cry official video is directed by Dakota Johnson
Coldplay, the British rock band, released their 8th studio album; a double-album this time, on November 22, 2019. Everyday Life, the album, features songs that are very different from what the band has produced before. However, the music still shakes you to your core. Coldplay has taken up the fight against global injustice by pressing on issues the world fails to see. Let’s call it the elephant in the global room. The album features amazing tracks like Everyday Life, Daddy, Guns, Church and Cry, Cry, Cry. And just now, Coldplay has officially released the video of their track Cry, Cry, Cry. What’s special about it? Well, it is directed by Chris Martin’s girlfriend-Dakota Johnson.
Coldplay | Cry, Cry, Cry
Dakota Johnson has officially made her directorial debut with this one. It is not just a song, it feels like an ode to Chris and Dakota’s love. She has been dating Chris Martin, the lead vocalist of Coldplay, since 2017. As the lyrics of the song go:
When you cry, cry, cry, baby
I’ll be by your side.
Cry, Cry, Cry video gives you the 1950s ‘ball’ feels. It is shot in the Rivoli Ballroom of London. A couple is shown dancing together, from the day they attended their first ball to the day they had their last ball together, after decades.
The overall theme of the video is pretty vintage. Dakota Johnson has done quite a good job with her first video. We hope to see more of her work soon. She co-directed the official video of Cry, Cry, Cry with Cory Bailey. The dancers featured in the video are Ida Saki & Meshach Henry, while the song is choreographed by Celia Rowlson-Hall.
A Gift On Valentine’s Day
Coldplay has dropped the perfect gift for their fans in the shape of Cry, Cry, Cry video. You can tell the lyrics are a gift from Chris Martin to Dakota Johnson while the video is her gift to him in return.
Dakota Johnson has also formed a production company with Ro Donnelly, named TeaTime Pictures. More details will be shared soon.
