Netflix has been scanning the horizon to include variety in its content. There has been an influx of docuseries on Netflix and the response from the audience is a good one. In 2017 a deal was made with a British producer Jane Root. She was already working on an extensive 12-part documentary series on babies. Indeed, this is a great collaboration. And the first part of the series will be dropped on Netflix on February 21, 2020.
Netflix baby-centric docu-series
Jane Root is a talented and experienced producer. Previously, she was the president of Discovery Channel US, ex-Controller of BBC2 and co-founder of Wall to Wall TV. However, now she owns a production house “Nutopia”, which produces non-scripted and documentary television programs. Names worth mentioning are “America: The Story of Us” for History Channel, “One Strange Rock” for National Geographic and “Civilisations” for BBC.
A documentary series on exploration and experience of babies was in the Nutopia’s pipelines for quite some time. Similar to this, another project of Jane Root includes Sky Living’s “She’s Having a Baby”.
While speaking to the media Jane Root explains:
This series showcases incredible, groundbreaking science revealing the developmental leaps and bounds babies go through in the first year of life while capturing the personal and emotional journey of the family as a whole. For many of the parents on the team both in front and behind the camera this has been one of the rewarding and insightful project to be a part of.
More episodes to come
As explained earlier, the documentary series consists of 12 parts. Judging by the success of the projects of Jane Root, we can say for sure that there’ll be more episodes to follow. However, no official announcement has been made by the network or the producer regarding the subject of the next parts of Babies.
