Season 1 of the sci-fi series “Altered Carbon” was a hit in 2018 as the high conceptualization was anything but impressive. Basically, the series is based on a novel written by Richard K. Morgan which was published in 2002. It is the year 2384 and such technology exists which allows humans to digitally transfer consciousnesses in new bodies. Hence the code is – cheat death and find new bodies. The main lead is Takeshi Kovacs (played by Joel Kinnaman) who is an only survivor from the ranks of interstellar warriors. His purpose is to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer in the entire galaxy.
Altered Carbon Season 2
In Altered Carbon Season 2, fast-forward 30 years, we find Takeshi Kovacs in a new body (Anthony Mackie) who is still doing the same business of finding Quell. But there are some twists this time around. For instance, he is recruited back by his home planet – Harlan’s World. Apart from this, new promises are made to him. He will be given help in finding Quell but he must solve the case of brutal murders. Resultantly, he must make new alliances along with his partner A.I. Poe (Chris Conner) to outsmart everyone. Will he be able to outplay his enemies? Are the murders linked with his love interest Quell? And who is Quellcrist Falconer after all? Can’t wait for all the answers.
Previously, before the Altered Carbon series’ renewal, the showrunner Laeta Kalogridis talked to EW about season 2.
We want to do something surprising with the second season that is not in the same place with the same people. “I think the universe of these books gives you more latitude… Richard and I have a plan, I don’t know how people will feel about the plan, but we do have one!
Netflix will drop eight episodes of Season 2 of Altered Carbon on February 27. Until then, watch the trailer of season 2 below.
