Joker Sequel Is Not A Good Idea According To A Joker Star Zazie Beetz

Todd Phillip really made a masterpiece when he finished working on last year’s Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix. Since its debut, the film has taken home several awards, including a couple of this year’s Oscars 2020. In fact, Phoenix won the award for the Best Actor at the Academy Awards, while the movie enjoyed nominations in 11 categories. Considering how the film has been a success, perhaps it was expected that Joker sequel talks would emerge among media. Some may think it is a good idea, but others are not considering it. In fact, Zazie Beetz is among them who do not particularly like it.

Joker Sequel Should Not Be “Milked”

Zazie Beetz starred as Sophie, a neighbor living in the same apartment building as Arthur. The two quickly developed a liking towards one another, until it was later revealed that she was just a projection of Arthur’s mind. He was dreaming of her the whole time, sort of like hallucination due to his sick mind. At the red carpet of Oscars, a reporter asked her opinion on a Joker Sequel. To this she replied:

“I don’t know, I don’t know if it needs one. I think there is a lot of strength in not milking something. Honestly I feel like Todd [Phillips] would be the person to be able to do that tastefully. I think if he felt that it needed one. I really trust him. He’s really creative and smart.”

Sophie might not be present in Arthur’s life, but the director revealed that the Joker did not kill her. Therefore, there is a chance that in some way she can return in a Joker sequel if it happens. For now, the director is not looking for a sequel. However, he is open to the idea if he is given a strong script. Perhaps this is news on Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker should be set aside for later?
