The 35th Independent Spirit Awards 2020 was held on February 8, 2020, in Santa Monica, California. In addition to this, the ceremony was hosted by Aubrey Plaza and broadcasted LIVE on IFC. Furthermore, Aubrey Plaza herself has won a Spirit Award in 2018. Also, she hosted the ceremony in 2019. Additionally, the organization opted for Aubrey this year as well because of her talent.
In 2018, president Josh Welsh said:
This year we said, let’s find someone funny, smart, a cinephile. Being a great actor wouldn’t hurt.

Independent Spirit Awards 2020

So, as the name suggests, the awards honor the best independent films of the previous year. In contrast to traditional awards, categories that are distinctive to the Independent Spirit Awards are Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay, and the Robert Altman Award.

However, there were twenty-six presenters this year who had the honor of presenting the award to the winners:
