Most Predicted Winners At The Oscars 2020

0 531

The most awaited event finally happened. Yes, that’s right. The 92nd Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars 2020, were held this weekend and we have a lot of tea to spill.

How Accurate Were Our Predictions For Oscars 2020:

Best Picture: Parasite (Although we didn’t think it would win)

Parasite did end up winning which was frankly, a little surprising. Not because the movie doesn’t deserve it, because oh boy, was it amazing. But because diversity is not the Oscars’ strong suit but we’re happy it happened nonetheless.

Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix

This category had his name written all over it and we weren’t wrong. Nobody could’ve taken this award home than our king, Joaquin Phoenix.

Best Actress: Renée Zellweger

Renée Zellweger was a clear choice for this category. Even though all the nominees were so, so good, Zellweger’s performance was perhaps the best of her career and deserved a win.

Best Director: Quentin Tarantino

We guessed Oscars favorite Tarantino would take the Oscar home but again, were pleasantly surprised when Bong Joon-ho swept another award for Parasite.

Best Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt

And this was no surprise at all. Not gonna lie, I’d have been more than a little upset if Brad Pitt hadn’t won in Oscars 2020. It was such an undisputed win, there’s no question.

Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern

Who was worthy enough, if not Dern? The only other actress who had managed to create similar buzz was Jennifer Lopez and she hadn’t even made the nominee cut. And just like that, Laura Dern’s winning streak continued as she bagged an Oscar.

Best Original Score: Hildur Guðnadóttir

The Golden Globe had given us plenty of direction as to who would win. And because Guðnadóttir had taken home the Golden Globe, we decided to bet on her. And she did NOT disappoint.

Best Original Song: (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” (Elton John, “Rocketman”)

The people’s predictions weren’t wrong. This Elton John song ended up taking the award home in Oscars 2020.

Well, there you have it! The Oscars 2020 did not disappoint as much as we thought it would. Though there were some surprise wins, everyone is mostly happy with the results. The only problem that The Academy needs to work on is nominating for female directors and people of color in the major categories. Even Natalie Portman shaded the Oscars 2020 for the lack of female directors. Hopefully, this will all change in the coming years.
