Director Bong Joon-Ho’s creation has just become the first Non-English language film to win the Best Picture Award at the Oscars 2020. It has also become the highest-grossing South Korean film ever, raking in a whopping $167.7 million worldwide.
Parasite’s road to Oscars 2020 has been a bright one but no one was expecting this South Korean Film to rake in the top prize. It became the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
It became one of the greatest South Korean Films ever made after its release on 30th May 2019. Since then, Parasite has won several prestigious accolades like the Golden Globe Award and the 73rd British Academy Film Awards. Golden Globes 2020 saw it win Best Foreign Film Language award. Parasite raked in the awards for Best Film Non-English Language and Best Original Screenplay at the British Academy Awards as well.
