Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’ Visits Rwanda to Check Endangered Mountain Gorillas

Recently, Game of Thrones star, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, visited Rwanda. He was there on behalf of Lion’s Share Fund. The purpose of his visit was to check on endangered mountain gorillas.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP

As a Goodwill Ambassador, he highlights and brings awareness to multiple issues. Game of Thrones star supports the UNDP’s Global goals which focus on ending poverty, inequality and stop climate change. Not only that, he helps in ending discrimination and violence against women. As a father of two girls, this issue is close to his heart. In a press conference, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau said:

“My main mission as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador will be to raise awareness and support for the Global Goals for a better future for all, which cannot be achieved without empowering women and protecting our planet.”

Recently, Game of Throne’s Nikolaj Coster-Waldau visited Rwanda

A few days back, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau spent some time in Rwanda. While there, he tried to understand the endangerment of mountain gorillas. According to estimation, there are 1000 mountain gorillas left. Previously, this number was way less than this. However, it has been controlled through conservation efforts. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s visit was on behalf of Lion’s Share fund. Their aim is to support local communities and save endangered animals. Not only that, they help in stopping the illegal trade of animals.

Previously, Game of Thrones actor traveled to Amazon

In order to find out facts about Amazon fires, Nikolaj went to Peru. While there, he found out that the reason behind the fires was deforestation. Also, he highlighted the efforts of indigenous and local people to combat the issues. He made sure to bring their stories to the masses. Amazon fires brought great destruction to these people. Furthermore, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau emphasized on coming together to stop climate change.

Needless to say, Nikolaj is indeed a knight in shining armor.
