Taylor Swift Accepts Apology from Nikki Glaser
Miss Americana’s Taylor Swift accepts Nikki Glaser’s apology. The documentary finally came on Netflix on Friday, January 31st, 2020. It has received large scale love and respect for the hard work the singer puts into her music. The Netflix documentary gives an insight into how the thirty-year-old musician copes up with so much criticism and struggles she has had to deal with over the years.
In this documentary, the singer takes her audience behind the scenes of her life and career. Taylor Swift also gives her fans a front-row seat to her recording sessions over the years. Miss Americana shows glimpses of many aspects of the singer’s life. From her private relationship with Joe Alwyn, to how she goes about writing a song, to her infamous Kanye West VMA’s scandal.
Her scuffle with the eating disorder
The documentary also covers a glaring insight into her eating disorder. Ms. Swift admits she went through an eating disorder phase and boldly talks about how media and people at large heavily criticized her for it.
Miss Americana shows how the bad press Ms. Swift received was one of the things that forced her to withdraw from the public eye for a whole year. A small clip from the comedian, Nikki Glaser, shows her comments about Taylor Swift’s body. Elle reports the comment:
“she’s too skinny; it bothers me… all of her model friends, and it’s just like, cmon!”
The apology by Nikki Glaser
Nikki talks about her apology in an Instagram post where she expresses love for Taylor Swift. Giving some background into how she got featured in Miss Americana documentary, Nikki Glaser explains how she was just projecting her own insecurities onto Taylor Swift:
The sound bite was from an interview I did 5 years ago and I say in SUCH a shitty tone, ‘She’s too skinny; it bothers me…all of her model friends, and it’s just like, cmon!’ This quote should be used as an example of ‘projection’ in PSYCH101 textbooks. If you’re familiar with my ‘work’ at all, you know I talk openly about battling some kind of eating disorder for the past 17 years … I was probably ‘feeling fat’ that day and was jealous …
The comedian further elaborates that she was only annoyed by her model friends because she wanted to be Taylor Swift’s friend:
And I was only bothered by her model friends because I’d like to be her friend and I’m not a model. I really have no need to post this other than to apologize to someone who seriously means SO much to me.
Moreover, the comedian also commented on how Taylor’s music influences her life in such a positive way. Taylor’s song ‘The Man’ serves as inspiration for Nikki’s upcoming comedy tour!
The singer accepts Nikki Glaser’s apology
After the apology, Taylor Swift was quick to forgive Nikki Glaser. The ‘Lover’ singer appreciated the apology sincerely and shared how forgiveness is important for growth:
Wow. I appreciate this so much and one of the major themes about the doc is that we have the ability to change our opinions over time, to grow, to learn about ourselves. I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve struggled with some of the same things I’ve struggled with. Sending a massive hug, 💗
The response from Miss Americana superstar, Taylor Swift shows there are no grudges on her end. Who knew a documentary would end years old feud so amicably.
