Guys, did Bill Gates predict the Coronavirus?
2020 was off to a great start but then two terrible things happened. Firstly, was the unexpected death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in a plane crash. Then, the mysterious Corona Virus caused major hysteria in the world. Now, coronaviruses (COV) are something that actually already exists. The viruses lead to illness-causing respiratory issues. Now, the reason why everyone is stressed is that there is a new strain of the Corona Virus that has emerged in humans. The strain of the virus, called novel coronavirus, is something that has no vaccine as of yet. It originated in the Wuhan area of China and has spread globally. Where does Bill Gates come in all of this? Well, the CEO of Microsoft may have predicted this endemic health issue.
Bill Gates Predicting Coronavirus in Netflix Documentary ‘Explained’
In the documentary, the billionaire came on screen to explain how the world is not ready to handle a global pandemic. He also predicted that a viral infection would break and it would emerge from a wet market located in the China region.
The Netflix documentary made by Vox featured an episode ‘The Next Pandemic’. That episode showcased what would happen if a global epidemic were to occur. The show producers went to a wet market situated in China. This market is where animal meat is sold. The thing is that the animals are also killed there. Naturally, this becomes an unhygienic place a breeding ground for viruses and diseases. Hence, wet markets such as these are deemed ‘Disease X Factory’. The blood and meat are often mixed together and the results are well, dangerous.
In the documentary, Bill Gates shared that:
This is a wet market in the Lianghua, China. Unlike markets in much of the West, where animals are already dead when they arrive, this wet market sells meat that’s very fresh.
It’s killed on sight. That’s what makes it a disease X factory. Many different animal species are stacked on top of each other, their blood and meat mixed, before being passed from human to human. All the while, their viruses are mixing and mutating, increasing the odds that one finds its way to humans.
Coronavirus result of a Wet Market too
The truth is that the wet market that Bill Gates described is exactly like the seafood market in the Wuhan region. The one where the Coronavirus is believed to originate. Many scientists are believing that this mysterious virus strain comes from bats and snakes. The Wuhan seafood market has snakes and bats living there. The infection is believed to transfer from animals to humans. This was what led to the SARS outbreak back in 2003 too!
We should have taken Bill Gates warning seriously
As of now, on Feb 11, 2020, there has only been 43,143 cases worldwide. A total of 1,018 deaths have occurred. Meanwhile, 4,336 patients suffering from the coronavirus were recovered. The numbers will keep altering as time goes on and as the virus strain keeps mutating. Now, it’s not all doom and gloom as some scientists are getting close to finding a cure for this. However, Bill Gates still warned that the world is not prepared to deal with a pandemic (global health crisis).
Gates put the focus on how the world’s infrastructure would not be prepared to tackle a pandemic as efficiently and quickly as is needed. First world countries are at risk but they would be able to deal with the cases that come their way. The third world countries are at the most at risk from the coronavirus because they do not have the necessary resources to tackle the issue.
If a disease comes along that we haven’t seen before, typically it would take four or five years to come up with a vaccine against that disease. And new technologies might shorten those times.
When a pandemic comes along of any size, we always look back and wish we invested more.
Bill Gates has contributed to the containing of the outbreak of coronavirus
Gates is someone who has always indulged in philanthropy and invested in charitable causes that would benefit good causes. Finding a cure and vaccine for Coronavirus seems to be at the top priority. Hence, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has contributed a significant amount of funds to the resources needed to fight against it. They are actually donating $100 million to the cause!
While doing so, they shared this statement:
The release of fast and flexible funding is intended to help multilateral organizations and national public health authorities rapidly scale up their virus detection capabilities and implement disease modeling analytics.
