Why Scarlett Johannson Hates her ScarJo Nickname
Did you know the beauty diva, Scarlett Johannson is not very happy with how media around Hollywood stamps most famous celebrities with a nickname? Well, recently she fell prey to one such incident and she is not happy about it.
Scarlett Johannson is bagging two Academy Awards this year. One for best actress in ‘Marriage Story’ and a second one for best-supporting actress in ‘Jojo Rabbit’. However, she continues to express frustration towards the way media coverage sometimes works.
Scarlett Johannson is unhappy with her nickname, ScarJo
Many famous Hollywood actors have been given nicknames. The most popular ones include; JLaw for Jennifer Lawrence, Xtina for singer Christina Aguilera and JLo of course, for megastar Jennifer Lopez. Likewise, Miss Johannson was given ScarJo which she completely despises and has very honestly spoken about it.
I associate that name with, like, pop stars. It sounds tacky. It’s lazy and flippant. And there’s something kind of violent about it. There’s something insulting about it.
This was from an interview with Glamour where the actress shared her feelings of unhappiness.
She also dislikes…
other labels. Labels like “young” or “sexy”. The Avengers star’s breakthrough role was in Lost in Translation where the actress was only seventeen years of age. This role sure put her in the limelight. But as she complains, “When I made Lost in Translation, I was 17, and now I’m 29 … I think I’ve been ‘in my early twenties’ for, like, over a decade! It makes perfect sense that it has been a very long time since the captivating role. Not being able to still escape it justifies her frustration.
Confusions with the tabloids
The Avengers star recently called out on a fake, unauthentic claim the tabloids made. Earlier this month, Gossip Cop swooped on and claimed that the actress was getting “cold feet” and hence, not setting up a wedding date with Colin Jost. They claimed this was due to her prior marriage falling apart and out of concern for her daughter. She denied these claims when she spoke about it on Ellen DeGeneres’ show.
