1. CONVERSATIONS WITH A KILLER: THE TED BUNDY TAPES
On the 30th anniversary of his infamous Florida execution, Netflix brought us this twisted masterpiece that made everyone fall in love with a serial killer. This series was based around never before heard tapes recorded by “Jack The Ripper of the United States”.
Directed and executive produced by Joe Berlinger, this gripping docuseries focuses on the brutal slayings of over 30 women in the United States during the late ’70s and early ’80s by the charming law student known as Ted Bundy. What made his gruesome crimes more haunting was the adoration he received from women all around America while being on trial for all these horrific murders.
This docuseries is something you might have never seen before. It features over 100 hours of exclusive audio interviews that the journalists collected straight from the murderer’s mouth. It provides a unique perspective as the killer talks about and justifies his own actions and motives. Which makes this docuseries something you wouldn’t want to miss!
Hey, you. I’m sure you’ve heard of this mega-famous psychological thriller series based on a sociopathic serial killer. Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, justifies killing his lovers as an act of love.
“You” is an insight into the twisted mind of a seemingly normal guy who falls in love and stops at nothing in keeping him from being loved back.
Season 1 of “You” stars Elizabeth Lail as Joe’s love interest, Guinevere Beck and Shay Mitchell as Peach Salinger. Whereas, Season 2 has Victoria Pedretti as Love Quinn.
So I won’t spoil it much further. This is a show you need to watch and discover all on your own.
This show is based on the book “Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” while the main character is based loosely on the author of the book, John E. Douglas.
Mindhunter is the Netflix drama based on the true story of the man who pioneered the science of profiling serial killers. The show’s fictional profiler, FBI agent Holden Ford, makes reference to infamous criminals like Charles Manson and David Berkowitz showing true events.
4. ABDUCTED IN PLAIN SIGHT
Abducted in Plain Sight is a 2017 true-crime documentary film directed by Skye Borgman. The Netflix documentary covers the kidnappings of Jan Broberg Felt, an Idaho teenager who was abducted by her neighbor Robert Berchtold in the 1970s on two separate occasions.
It was first released by the title “Forever B”. However, it gained popularity after being added to Netflix’s true crime library.
Abducted in Plain Sight ended up causing mayhem when it was first released. There were viral tweets flying about as viewers tried to make sense of what they had just watched.
Much of the uproar targeted Jan’s parents who seemed responsible for Berchtold’s prolonged abuse of their daughter. Their behavior in response to the whole ordeal (as shown in the documentary) was shocking at the least.
It might not be a serial killer documentary but it’s creepy enough to make you not go to the loo alone.
