Details about the makeover

So this Mediterranean makeover has a story behind it. What Shay Mitchells did was re-imagine her 1920’s house with the talented interior designer Chadwood Interiors. According to Chad, Shay already had some staple pieces which she wanted to keep in her house so they worked around that. Mixing vintage with new, they created the perfect blend of an aesthetic yet timeless interior.

Many of the decor pieces were Shay Mitchells’ collection from her travels across various countries. She also showed these and where she got them, like a unique design piece featuring a sculpted hand and an orbed lantern she got from Morocco.

Speaking about the lantern, Shay says:

It’s the eye-catching moment in the room,

A chandelier would have been really expected. I wanted something different.”

One way that Chad refreshed the entire look was by bleaching and resurfacing the redwood floors. Changing the floors completely transforms the look and feel of the place when renovating.

The entire living room space is filled with light and a warm fireplace. Shay also shared that she didn’t want one color throughout her home. She used dark green velvet for her couch. And for the kitchen, a monochromatic theme. So classy!
