Chris Evans’ Crime Drama “Defending Jacob” Release Date
Chris Evans shows that he has all moved on from MCU by taking part in Apple TV+’s crime drama TV show, Defending Jacob. The show is based on William Landay’s bestselling novel published in 2012. Evans and his co-star Michelle Dockery will play the role of parents whose teenage son is falsely accused of murder.
Chris Evans Coming To An Apple TV+ Series Soon
There are going to be a lot of TV shows coming in this part of the year. That is because the last date for a show to be eligible for this year’s Emmy is May 31st. It was in the recent 2020 TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena where Apple TV+ announced the release of the first three episodes of their limited series Defending Jacob. The show is set to debut on April 24, 2020.
The cast of the show includes former Captain America Chris Evans, Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Pablo Schreiber, and Cherry Jones. The story revolves around the clearing name of a boy who is accused of murdering his classmate in a small town in Massachusetts. IndieWire reports that the show was first going to be a movie in 2012. However, writer Mark Bomback realized that it was better to release a TV show over this genre and storyline, which usually gains a lot more popularity than a movie.
Director Morten Tyldum also agrees with this narrative and strengthens it by claiming that TV series allow characters to breathe between storyline. He said, that a particular thing this Chris Evans story attracts is,
“‘How far would you go in defending yourself to the world?’ What’s the strongest bond, what’s the strongest loyalty? That’s so good to play with.”
For Jaeden Martell it is going to be a second time he will be starring alongside Chris Evans. The first time happened during Knives Out, and for this Evans feels that he just had to take it on.
Chris Evans is also an executive producer alongside Adam Shulman and Rosalie Swedlin. Defending Jacob is releasing on April 24, after which it will air every Friday to bring out a total of eight episodes!
