Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that we are getting Deadpool 3 soon. However, this time Marvel Studios will be producing the sequel. Apparently, the movie is now acquired by Disney in March and 20th Century Fox will not be distributing it either.

“We Are Working On It,” Reynolds Talks About Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds announced this on “Live With Kelly and Ryan” starring hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. He confirmed that his witty comedian superhero is returning for a new Deadpool movie. Here is what the actor had to say:

“We’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel [Studios], which is the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kind of crazy.”

Like once with Spiderman, Marvel Studios also did not have rights over Deadpool. This made him one of the few characters not under Marvel Studios. However, Disney’s $71 billion Fox acquisition meant that Ryan Reynolds will also be transferring to one of the biggest film studios in Hollywood.

Variety report states that Emma Watts, Fox president who had a significant role in the previous movies, will not oversee Deadpool 3 or the franchise any longer. However, she will continue to work with Ryan Reynolds for his upcoming movie ‘Free Guy’. She is also working with Steven Spielberg for ‘West Side Story’, ‘Avatar’ franchise and ‘The Last Duel’.

Details About The Movie Franchise

The two Deadpool movies have earned a magnificent $1.5 billion worldwide. This looks especially incredible if you look at the two movies’ budgets: $58 million for the first, and $110 million for the second. This is a marvelous performance considering that the movies are R-rated. This huge success can is also credited to Reynolds’s splashy commercials and cameo projects this year. This is most likely to continue for Deadpool 3 as well. It is reported that when Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were asked if Marvel will continue with the R-rated nature of the franchise, they said:

“Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe.”

There is no release date or expectation as of now. However, stay tuned and watch this space to find out!
